Does the Foundation of Your Home Need Improving?

Updated: Feb 10, 2023

So, you think your home does not need improving? You have your beautiful house and your cars and your bills are paid and you think that everything is fine, that nothing needs improving at your house! Well, how is your spouse? How are your children? Do you call them names, ignore them, or belittle them? Do you show favoritism to one child over another? I mean really, how are they? Are they silently hurting and you have been blind and deaf to it? I know people are probably thinking I am just talking to men, but I am not, Women are sometimes head of the household now, and women are abusive as well.

We live in a world of angry people! Most I have seen are our younger generation. The sad thing is, most have come from a home that went to church and claimed to "know" God. Could it be someone could go to church but still not have the foundation of their home properly laid? You may say, "How could that be? I taught my children to go to church, isn't that the right foundation? Well, not necessarily! Did you meet Jesus while you went and took your children to church? Just going to a church building religiously does not mean you had a "relationship" with Jesus our Saviour, our foundation, our Rock!

Like, I said in my first blog post home improvement is not just about painting or keeping the lawn all pretty, no it is much deeper than that. We are going to go deep into this one, right to the bones of the house. I have seen too many marriages broken and children destroyed and ripped apart in the process. because the whole time nobody admitted that their home needed improving in the most important way and that is spiritual. You wake up shaking your head wondering what happened everything was fine. Well, let me ask you did you take your time in building the foundation right or did you rush and build your home in a hurry, thinking the foundation was not that important? Let me explain what I am wanting you to see. Most people know the foundation of a house is very important! Why? Because its primary purpose is to hold your house up. Without it, your house would quickly sink into the ground unevenly, resulting in cracks and damage to your home. A properly built foundation will keep the home even and supported, even during a flood or earthquake. Foundations are buried in the ground and hold buildings up. The purpose of a foundation is to hold up and hold together the structure above it. ... A properly-built foundation increases the amount of abuse a house structure can take and remain safe for the people inside it.

Your house is not going to make it if you are rushing through this life thinking only of the temporary. Just as the house you live in goes through storms and takes a lot of abuse and is held up by a properly built foundation, your spirit needs a strong foundation. You will not make it through this life, and your home or family won't make it through the storms of this life if your foundation is not built properly! Just as there are requirements in building the foundation of your physical home there are requirements in building the foundation of your life properly. In order to do that you have to focus on the eternal more than the temporary. Let's face it, we cannot live without Jesus Christ being the foundation of our spiritual house! We are spirit beings first with a body, not a body with a spirit. You may think you do not need him, but you will when the storms come to your life because they will come. They come to us all.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:21-27, "Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied (preached) in thy name? and in thy name cast out demons? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24. Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26. And every one that hears these sayings of mine and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds of blew, and beat upon that house and it fell, and great was the fall of it."

I urge you to call on Jesus and put him first for he says, "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Also, in 1 Corinthians 3: 9-11 KJV. Paul says, "For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 10. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon. 11. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ". I encourage you to get you a bible King James Version and read the rest of that chapter. God Bless You!
